Installation Video
Tools Required
- Ratchet
- 8mm socket
- 10mm socket
- 5/32" Allen key
- Phillips-head screwdriver
- Trim removal tool
- Needle-nose pliers (steel bumper only)
RAM Plastic Bumper Instructions
Step 1 — Attach the LED Pod to Bracket
Install the supplied nuts into the pod housing with the nylon facing inward. Attach the bracket to the pod using the supplied screws and washers in the correct orientation. Tighten so the pod holds position but can still pivot for aiming.
Step 2 — Remove the Grille
Using a trim removal tool, remove the four plastic push rivets along the top cover panel. Remove the four 10mm bolts along the top of the grill. Lift the two tabs in the lower corners, then pull the grill straight out.
Step 3 — Remove the Bumper and Factory Fog Lamps
Remove the two 8mm bolts on the inner fender liner. Remove the two plastic fasteners with a Phillips screwdriver and trim tool. Pull the inner fender liner away from the bumper, then remove the 10mm bumper mounting screw from the inner fender. Remove the four 10mm bolts along the bottom of the bumper. Pull the bumper at both corners to release the clips under the headlights, release the five tabs along the top, and pull straight out. Unplug the factory fog light harness, depress the tabs on the three push clips, and pull the lamp straight out.
Step 4 — Install the LED Pod
Push the new SS3 pod directly into place, making sure all three push clips seat fully. Plug the SS3 into the factory fog light harness using the included DT wire adapter. Test for functionality (if the light doesn't turn on, flip the connector 180 degrees). For backlit pods, connect the backlight wire to a fused 12V source using the included T-taps. Repeat on the other side, then skip to the aiming instructions before reassembling.
RAM Steel Bumper Instructions
Step 1 — Attach the LED Pod to Bracket
Same as plastic bumper Step 1 above.
Step 2 — Access the Factory Fog Lights
Remove the 10mm bolt on the inner fender liner and gently pull it away from the bumper.
Step 3 — Remove the Factory Fog Lights
Unplug the factory fog light harness and remove the three 10mm bolts holding the bracket onto the back of the bumper. Using needle-nose pliers, disconnect the clip holding the harness to the bracket (this clip will be reused). Remove the factory fog light assembly and use pliers to remove the plastic push clips from the metal bracket.
Step 4 — Install the LED Pod
Attach the new SS3 pod to the factory metal bracket, ensuring all three push clips are fully seated. Reinstall the assembled pod and bracket onto the bumper using the three factory 10mm bolts. Reattach the harness clip to the bracket, then plug in using the included DT wire adapter. Test for functionality. For backlit pods, connect the backlight wire to a fused 12V source. Repeat on the other side.
Aiming Instructions
Step 1 — Park 25 feet from a wall on a level surface.
Step 2 — Loosen the 5/32" Allen bolts on each SS3 pod just enough to allow adjustment.
Step 3 — Measure the distance from the ground to the center of the SS3 pod (mounting height).
Step 4 — Mark the mounting height on the wall with tape.
Step 5 — Add a second tape mark four inches below (fog light cutoff line).
Step 6 — Aim each SS3 pod so the top of the beam pattern aligns with the cutoff line.
Step 7 — Tighten the Allen bolts. Do not overtighten or use power tools. Reinstall the fender liner and reassemble. The install is complete.
