- 10mm socket and ratchet
- Phillips head screwdriver
- Plastic trim removal tool
Installation Instructions
Step 1 — Remove Tail Light
Open the trunk. Using a Phillips head screwdriver and plastic trim removal tool, remove the plastic clip on the top side of the tail light cover. Pry the plastic tail light cover out. Using a 10mm socket, remove the two bolts securing the tail light. Slide the tail light away from the vehicle and gently pop it out of place (there's a fastener in the outer corner).
Step 2 — Connect Module and Replace Bulbs
Disconnect the tail light connector by depressing the tab and pulling it out. Plug the new Tail as Turn® module inline between the factory connector and the tail light. Remove the halogen turn signal bulb from the factory housing. Optional backup light upgrade: Replace the factory signal bulb with the included Diode Dynamics LED bulb (LED bulbs must be used since you'll be drawing power from the backup light circuit). If you purchased replacement LED reverse bulbs for the factory reverse light location, swap those as well. Check polarity before reinstalling — if a bulb doesn't light up, remove it, flip 180°, and reinstall.
Step 3 — Reinstall and Repeat
Tuck the wiring in and reinstall the tail light with the 10mm bolts, tail light cover, and plastic clip. Repeat on the other side to complete the installation. Note: Resistors will be hot to the touch when the turn signal is activated for prolonged periods — this is normal.
