If you've been running the original Stage Series SSC2 LED Pods or considering a compact light pod for your build, you've probably heard about the new C2 2.0 and C2R LED Pods. Here's what's actually changed — and whether the upgrade is worth it.
Same Size, All-New Design
Both pods share the same compact 2-inch form factor — perfect for roof racks, bumpers, ditch light brackets, or trailers. But under the surface, the C2 2.0 and C2R are complete redesigns. They feature new copper-core circuit boards and updated heat sink fins for dramatically improved thermal performance, handling more power and delivering more usable output in real-world conditions.
More Output, New Max Power Level
The original SSC2 delivered impressive performance with Sport and Pro options. The C2 2.0 raises the bar with the introduction of a Max version, delivering 3900 raw lumens — the brightest 2-inch pod on the market. Thanks to upgraded Osram HX Boost emitters and a redesigned thermal core, the C2 2.0 offers significantly more usable output without increasing pod size.
Optics, Re-Engineered
The patented TIR (Total Internal Reflection) optics have been reworked from the inside out, delivering up to 120% more intensity with better performance across every beam pattern. The Combo/Driving pattern now features a uniform pillowed surface, solving the mismatch issue when mounting two pods side by side. Available in SAE Fog/Wide, SAE Driving, Spot, Combo/Driving, and Flood.
New Features and Flexibility
- CrossLink Compatibility: Seamlessly link multiple pods into a lightbar
- Adjustable Mounting: New bracket and pod mount points for better fitment options
- Color-Swapping: All C2 2.0 pods use 6000K emitters — just change the lens for white or yellow output
- Improved Powdercoating: Meets ASTM D3359-17 standard for durability in harsh environments
Backlight Options and Covers
Both the SSC2, C2 2.0, and C2R offer integrated backlight functionality. With an expanded lineup of snap-on covers including a new amber option, there are more ways to personalize your build. The C2R offers two brightness levels — a standard red backlight and a high-power red for added braking visibility.
Should You Upgrade?
If you're looking for higher output, better beam quality, added adjustability, and more customization — the C2 2.0 is the clear winner. But if your SSC2 setup is still doing the job, it remains a rock-solid performer. Either way, you're getting one of the best 2-inch LED pod lights on the market.
